Bio
Erica has been teaching at Rudolf Steiner High School since 1999. She has worked as a botanist for both the Michigan Natural Features Inventory and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, and as a field biologist, specializing in moss.
With twenty years of experience, Erica has developed a strong Life Sciences curriculum at RSHS, teaching main lessons in Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry, Ecology, Botany, Cell Biology, and Physiology, as well as electives in special subjects like River Ecology and Sustainable Horticulture. She also teaches math, health, and gardening. She loves teaching in a Waldorf high school because she is able to share her passion for nature and the scientific process of knowing it with teenagers. She also loves the way Waldorf schools teach science.
In her free time, she enjoys gardening, hiking, backpacking, sewing, and staying current on new science research.
