Bio
Erica has been teaching at Rudolf Steiner High School since 1999. She previously worked as a botanist for the Michigan Natural Features Inventory and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, specializing as a field biologist with a focus on moss.
With over twenty years of experience, Erica has developed a strong Life Sciences curriculum at RSHS, teaching main lessons in Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry, Ecology, Botany, Cell Biology, and Physiology, as well as electives like River Ecology and Sustainable Horticulture. She also teaches math, health, and gardening. Erica appreciates teaching in a Waldorf high school because it allows her to share her passion for nature and the scientific process with teenagers, and she values the Waldorf approach to science education. Outside of school, she enjoys gardening, hiking, backpacking, sewing, and keeping up with new scientific research.
