Gary holds Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Aerospace Engineering Sciences from the University of Colorado, and a Master of Education degree and Waldorf Certification from Antioch New England Graduate School. He worked as a research engineer on the NASA Space Station project before entering teaching. He took a class from first to eighth grade at the Denver Waldorf School from 1993-2001, then worked as a high school science teacher and Class Teacher at High Mowing School before moving to Michigan. He began working at RSSAA in 2007 and has taught chemistry, biology, and other sciences in grades 7-12 and is also the high school choir men’s vocal coach. He is a long-term member of the College of Teachers and is currently serving as College of Teachers Chair. Gary is also active in coordinating high school clubs, including the RSHS Hiking Club, which takes wilderness trips every spring and fall, and the Garden and Bee Club, which tends the high school garden and beehives. In 2022, Gary joined the core faculty of Sunbridge Institute and helps to lead the Waldorf High School Teacher Education program and to teach other workshops related to phenomenological science teaching in Waldorf Schools.
