From Norse mythology to zoology, orchestra to world languages, our well-rounded elementary school curriculum is multisensory, multidisciplinary, and multicultural, inviting students to think creatively and make connections across subject areas.
The World Is Our Classroom
Measuring the length of the playing field in math class, foraging for mushrooms during a unit on botany, and playing violin in our class ensemble. Throughout elementary school, we place tremendous emphasis on real-world skills and deep experiential learning.

Engaged Literacy
One of the principal goals of our literacy program is to foster a deep lifelong love of reading and writing. Alongside our structured literacy program, students develop vocabulary, comprehension skills, and imagination through storytelling, poetry, drama, and creative writing.
Strong in STEM
At RSSAA, you’ll see 1st graders skip counting while jumping rope and 3rd graders creating a solar clock to understand the concept of time. It’s part of our unique multisensory approach to math and science, which teaches foundational academic skills while encouraging the joy of discovery and learning in the real world.
World Languages
One of the many ways we support a diverse and cross-cultural education is through our robust world languages program, which includes instruction in two foreign languages (Spanish and German)starting in first grade.
Harmonious Learning
Research shows deep cognitive and emotional benefits to integrating art and music into the classroom. Students at RSSAA benefit from a robust music program, including choral and instrumental instruction, and violin for all students, starting in 3rd grade.
Social-Emotional Strength
We hold high expectations for our students—academically and as responsible members of their community. With thoughtful guidance from their teachers, students learn to navigate social challenges and build classrooms grounded in belonging, respect, and harmony.
Outdoor Education & Environmental Stewardship
At RSSAA, environmental stewardship is woven into our elementary and middle school experience. Through outdoor education, students actively care for our 12-acre campus—planting seeds, tending the vegetable garden, and collaborating on special projects such as creating a pollinator garden.
