A Multicultural Curriculum
As a Waldorf school, we teach and foster respect for all people and cultures. In line with our school’s core values, faculty and staff have undertaken the collective work of reviewing our curriculum through an equity and inclusion lens.
Across subjects and grade levels, the Diversity, Community, and Belonging Committee continually review class materials to ensure the thoughtful representation of diverse American communities and worldwide cultures, including African American studies, First Peoples’ studies, LGBTQ+ experience, Latinx studies, and the immigrant experience.
As part of this work, our teachers are guided by our Braided Curriculum and African American Studies Curriculum.

An Inclusive Learning Environment
We strive to build a school community that reflects the economic, social, ethnic, racial, and cultural diversity of Ann Arbor. We welcome families from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures.
We believe that achieving economic diversity within our school community leads to more enriching experiences, conversations, and learning opportunities for our students, families, faculty, and staff. To support economic diversity, we offer robust tuition assistance to help make Waldorf education possible for a wide range of families.
Multicultural Community Events
We celebrate the seasons and build community through an annual program of festivals and special events. Working in partnership with families, we acknowledge and celebrate a wide range of traditions throughout the year.
In addition to observing national holidays, our multicultural program of annual festivals includes Day of the Dead, Diwali, Lunar New Year, Eid al-Fitr celebrations, and more
Our traditional celebrations of Earth Day and May Fair emphasize and center on indigenous wisdom, native plants, and stewardship of the Earth
Across our curriculum and community, we observe and celebrate national Heritage and Awareness Months, such as Hispanic Heritage Month in September and October, Black History Month in February, and Women’s History Month in March.
