A Strong, Supportive Community
International students are an integral part of RSHS. Students from around the world are active participants in classrooms, clubs, and cultural life—forming close friendships, sharing traditions, and contributing meaningfully to the school community.
Our approach emphasizes strong relationships, personal responsibility, and respect, helping students feel supported as they grow academically and independently while living abroad.
RSHS is intentionally small, with one class per grade level, allowing teachers to know each student well and provide individualized academic and personal support. This structure also gives students the freedom to explore a wide range of academic subjects, arts, athletics, and leadership opportunities.
English Language Support
While TOEFL scores are not required, students must demonstrate sufficient English proficiency to succeed in a challenging academic environment. Proficiency is assessed during the admissions process.
Once enrolled, international students may participate in English Language Learning (ELL) classes to further strengthen language skills while fully engaging in the academic program.
College Preparation
RSHS graduates are admitted to a wide range of institutions, including selective liberal arts colleges, major research universities, arts conservatories, and international universities.
International students benefit from our comprehensive college counseling program, which offers individualized guidance, application support, and ongoing family communication—helping each student find colleges that are the right academic and personal fit.
Student Life Beyond the Classroom
International students quickly become part of a vibrant student culture through athletics, clubs, leadership opportunities, service learning, internships, and class trips. These experiences foster confidence, independence, and meaningful cross-cultural connections.

RSHS is located in Ann Arbor, a welcoming and walkable university town home to the University of Michigan. Students enjoy access to arts and culture, public transportation, diverse restaurants and grocery stores, and proximity to Detroit Metro Airport.
Housing & Homestay
RSHS does not offer on-campus boarding. Most international students live with local host families within the school community, while others live with relatives or family friends in the area. Finding the right host family is part of the school application process, including time to meet with host families virtually.
