Inspire. Create. Lead.
A Campaign for the Rudolf Steiner School of Ann Arbor

As of June 16, 2017, we have raised over $1.3 million to build an Athletic & Performance Center and expand the High School classrooms. An opportunity to accelerate the second phase of our campaign arose due to a change in the rules for water management on the High School campus. The Board of Trustees is securing a $1.2 million low-interest bond so construction can begin in July 2017. An additional $750,000 is needed by December 31, 2017 to complete the full project. Keeping with our plan to not accumulate debt, we will continue to raise funds to eliminate the $1.2 million bond.

Over the last 3 years, our dedicated team of volunteers, staff and faculty has been hard at work raising the funds for the Inspire.Create.Lead. Capital Campaign. Phase I was completed with the opening of the Middle School building in September 2017. We have been working with parents, faculty, alumni, friends and grandparents to raise $3.5 million for Phase II of the campaign.

ribbon-cuttingPhase II, building an Athletic & Performance Center and expanding the High School classrooms, aims to give our full community, PreK through Grade 12, a place to call home. This expansion will allow us to have a home gym for our athletic program; a home for celebrations including graduation, school-wide festivals, plays and musical performances; and a dedicated space for our Life Science, language and music programs.

Our vision for the future is to strengthen and expand our ability to support our community with the best Waldorf education possible. This outstanding educational experience requires first-rate facilities, proper equipment, excellent educators, passionate administration, a diverse and vibrant community, and financial stability.

As we’ve grown and the needs of our community have evolved, we’ve identified projects that will fulfill these needs, including a Middle School building, High School classroom expansion, an Athletic & Performance Center, educational support, an Endowment Fund and a Legacy Fund.

The Inspire. Create. Lead. Capital Campaign will develop the financial resources needed to fulfill these essential projects and will help achieve the best Waldorf educational experience for our students. Our goal is to raise $10.5 million in charitable donations in three phases.

Phase I –Middle School building completed September 2016 ($750,000)

Phase II –Athletic & Performance Center and expanded High School classrooms groundbreaking June 2017. Fundraising still in process. ($3.5 million)

Phase III  – Support our Educational Programs; a Legacy Fund to pay off long-term debt; and an Endowment Fund. ($6.25 million.)

capital-campaign-science-experimentBy supporting this campaign, you have the opportunity to have a huge impact on the future of our school.  There are many ways to give! We are encouraging all donors to consider a multi-year commitment over a period of 2-3 years.  The schedule can be flexible, and may allow donors to give more generously than might be feasible in a given year. Gifts of appreciated stock are also accepted, with the donor avoiding capital gains tax. In-kind donations are also possible and could reduce the cost of the project.

Please contact Katrina Klaphake, Development Director at kklaphake@steinerschool.org or 734-669-9394 x27 to learn more about the project and how you can contribute. You may also download a pledge form and return it to the High School or Lower School office.
