Gary holds Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Aerospace Engineering Sciences from the University of Colorado, and a Master of Education degree and Waldorf Certification from Antioch New England Graduate School. He worked as a research engineer on the NASA Space Station project before entering teaching. He took a class from first to eighth grade at the Denver Waldorf School, then worked as a high school science teacher and Class Teacher at High Mowing School before moving to Michigan. He began working at RSSAA in 2007 and has taught chemistry, biology, and other sciences in grades 7-12 and is also the high school choir men’s vocal coach. He cares deeply about the governance of RSSAA and serves as the High School Faculty Chair, member of the College of Teachers, and member of the Board of Trustees. He also runs the RSHS Hiking Club, leading wilderness trips every spring and fall. He teaches courses for class teachers and high school teachers at Sunbridge Institute and in the Teaching Sensible Science course. Gary is also an avid hiker, gardener, and musician. His wife, Calisa Tucker, is a Class Teacher at RSSAA, and his two stepchildren are Waldorf “lifers.”
