The Rudolf Steiner School of Ann Arbor is seeking a full-time High School Science and Mathematics Teacher for the 2019-20 school year. Housed on two beautiful campuses in Ann Arbor, Michigan, our comprehensive Waldorf program serves a diverse range of children, from a Parent/Infant Program through the 12th Grade.

Our High School is located in a building full of beautiful art, set on eight acres of gardens, prairie and woods. Our science facilities include a large chemistry and physics lab with individual lab stations, a newly completed life science lab, excellent storage, and a very well-developed set of teaching materials for all sciences. The High School enrollment is currently strong, with 108 enrolled for the 2018-19 school year. We offer a rich Waldorf curriculum with a strong main lesson and afternoon block schedule encompassing the humanities, mathematics, and sciences. Our curriculum also includes two world languages (Spanish and German), handwork, art, woodworking, orchestra, choir, eurythmy in blocks, movement and gardening. In addition we have a strong athletic program and vibrant social life including many clubs such as the Drama Club, Hiking Club, Robotics Team, Model UN and other clubs and activities that comprise the full social life of a Waldorf High School. Our Lower School Campus, situated on 11 wooded and grassy acres, houses our Pre-Kindergarten through 8th Grades and currently enrolls 210 students.

Requirements
The ideal candidate has training and experience working with the Waldorf curriculum, holds a Waldorf Teacher Training Certificate or equivalent and a bachelors or master’s degree in a scientific field, engineering or a related field. The specific courses taught by the new teacher will include some combination of science Main Lesson Blocks determined in conjunction with the three current full-time science and math faculty and a math track class. We value excellent teaching and classroom management skills, as well as a deep understanding of child development. We also seek a colleague dedicated to building strong collegial and parent relationships, and one who is committed to self-development. Finding the science colleague who can continue to help us grow and develop our strong high school program is essential.
